About Us
Giles & Associates has been supporting New Zealand businesses since 1997, when founder Annette Giles launched the practice from her home. Her goal was simple: to deliver practical, accessible accounting services without the formality of traditional firms. Rapid growth and a move to Waihi Beach soon led to branch offices in Auckland, Tauranga, and Katikati.
Company Structure & History
In 2016, Annette Giles began the process of splitting off from Giles & Liew Chartered Accountants Ltd by establishing Giles & Associates Chartered Accountants Ltd (G&A) in Waihi as the first branch. This was followed by the opening of the Tauranga branch and, subsequently, the Katikati branch.
Over the years, each branch expanded into dedicated premises to meet client demand and serve their local communities more effectively.
In April 2023, a major restructuring was undertaken to reflect the maturity and capability of each location. The former branches became separate legal entities:
- Giles & Associates Chartered Accountants Waihi Ltd
- Giles & Associates Chartered Accountants Katikati Ltd
- Giles & Associates Chartered Accountants Tauranga Ltd
Each of these companies is now 50% owned by the previous branch managers, who are now owner-operators. While they share a common name and ethos, each is a distinct legal entity, responsible for its own operations.
As part of this planned restructure, the original company, Giles & Associates Chartered Accountants Ltd, has now fulfilled its role and is being formally liquidated. To avoid confusion for clients during this process, its name was changed to Selig Holdings Ltd in preparation for liquidation.
This is an expected and orderly step in the restructure and does not affect our Waihi, Katikati, or Tauranga offices. Each continues to operate independently, fully staffed, and committed to serving their communities.
Despite their independence, the three businesses continue to operate under the Giles & Associates banner, working collaboratively for the benefit of clients and each other. Sharing values, standards, and knowledge is simply how we work.
